      ... Collectivo's were new to us. They are like taxis however only travel on one route, similar to a bus and priced slightly more expensive than a bus but far less than a taxi. Pablo's house was amazing. He was a famous poet in the early 1930s who was a pivotal character in the independence of Chile.       ... walls, dirty streets. Getting off the bus we were lucky to find the ascensor that would give us access to Concepcion & Alegre. Once again the elevator was dilapidated, looking as if it was running on a wing and a prayer. It cost N.Z, 80c/ea to ride the thing, but once we'd spent an hour walking the narrow cobblestone streets at the top we began to understand why this is a UNESCO world heritage site.

      We slept very well in our bed and breakfast...we arrived for breakfast at our first morning very early...I don't think our host was very amused, but she served us a wonderful breakfast of cereal, fruit, meat, cheeses, juice and pastry....It was a great night of sleeping; the bed and room were very comfortable.

      There are sooooo many dogs in Chile. dogs everywhere. When were just driving into the city, there was a poodle laying on the top of a car... ...
