We arrived in Como after a long drive from Bassano via Verona and the Hertz office to replace, yet again, the GPS. The Neverlost might be the case on the odd occasion that it works, but without it getting lost is actually quite simple. Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.

... crisp white sheets, a wide screen TV, cascading hot shower complete with big fluffy white towel and free stuff. After washing away my credit card miseries and napping for an hour I proceeded to the bar where I spent the night flirtsciously getting free wine from the hot barman and eating garlic butter mashed potatoes and broccoli. Best sleep of my life. And when I left in the morning for my flight (round two) he even gave me free breakfast. WOOOOP ATHENS HERE I ...

Venice continued………and the mosquito bites back. John woke in the night to discover he had been bitten on the head so covered himself with his sheet for the rest of the night. In the morning his eye felt strange and when he looked in the mirror he saw why. A quick visit to the pharmacy provided a diagnosis of a bite on the eyelid which should go down in 24 hours and no treatment required – let’s wait and see (through one eye!).

      So finish ...
