There isn’t much to report from yesterday. It was basically a rest day that involved wandering around Morbegno’s streets as well as running a few personal errands.

Dinner was with Marina’s cousins again for more magnificent home-made food. This time it was some succulent turkey & chicken with chips, followed by bread, cheese & salami, and then a home-made tira misu. This was of course followed by a healthy serving ...

... to the main piazza (square). Here are all the main amenities - school, two shops, hairdresser, doctors etc. this is about the same distance above the main road as our apartment is below. From here we can see the castle across the valley of the stream which produces the waterfall (Orrido Di Nesso). We continue to climb up in the village. We drove to Bellagio and then took the ferry to Varrena with the intention of eating lunch then travelling on to Piona to see an abbey. Just opposite the parking station was the Villa Monastera which has a beautiful botanic garden. We decided to look around the garden. They were lovely with an amazing array of plants from all over the world and the unexpected bonus was that the Villa was open for viewing. In the literature that Roger had seen the villa was only open for ...

Beautiful Bergamo. Oh how much I had heard about how wonderful this little town was from mum, who couldn't stay away from it during her time living in the UK, having visited on countless occasions!! Once again, mum's advice was sound!! We only had slightly over 24 hours to discover the delights of this little town, and we enjoyed every minute!

Bergamo is only a short distance from Milan, but again, it's so so different. Often overlooked, and I'm sure the ...

    Estate a Milano

A travel blog entry by sbianchi on Aug 11, 2011

Wow! What an adventure! This afternoon some other ACLE tutors and I set out to find Gardaland Waterpark, Milan's infamous waterpark. We got lost on the way, staying on the bus for too long, then getting off in what seemed to be the middle of the suburbs. But, finally we made it! Somehow the other tutors talked me into some crazy water rides and thankfully I'm still alive to write this! Sorry, not photos-- didn't even take my camera for fear of water damage. : D
