Today we spent the morning in Rethymnon, a lovely town about 60km East of Heraklion. We like Rethymnon way more than Heraklion. There is a lovely market in the old town and a beautiful little harbour area whit loads of restaurants by the water. Highly recommended!!! Our cruise started in Venice on 4 October. The Oceania Rivera was all that we thought it would be. Our stateroom is spacious and very well fitted out. As with all rooms on this particular ship, we have our own balcony where we can sit and enjoy the passing scenery. There are numerous restaurants at which to eat. ... but so shallow. A very pretty spot here and one very nasty fish that bit Mary quite hard. Few hours later we went back up the hill to our hotel, we are thinking of staying 2 nights instead of 1. Back to our room, then had dinner at the Panaroma Taverna (adjoined to the hotel) and bed.
