Hallo zusammen,
... less. I managed to stroll back to the backpackers on a quicker route taking in the scenery the reverse way around this time which was quicker coming back, for some reason the reverse journey always seems to be quicker I think its because psychologically you have seen all the route before and know what is coming. I generally had a chilled out evening just watching DVDs, its nice sometimes just to relax and do nothing especially after walking for around 6 hours the whole day.
Sveti Stefan, Montenegro richardcowley... to a bank in Montenegro. The banks there are so remarkably careful of counterfeiting, they refused exchanging my United States dollars for Euros because my money was wet; the three of us returned to the hotel using my blow dryer to evaporate the dollar bills until dried. The three of us henceforth joked about this saying we laundered the money. Upon arriving at the resort, Darko introduced me to his friend and we worked out the financial gratuities for our stay. We paid him eight ...
Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia lpcyu... variety of imported beers are available in Montenegros many cafes. Most of them seem to originate mainly in Holland, Belgium and Germany, although Niksicko seems to remain the nations favourite by far. By the time I'd left Café Titograd, the evening was drawing in and I decided to return to the Irish pub. My train back to Belgrade didn't leave until about half past ten and I believed this would give me more than ample time for ...
Podgorica, Montenegro englishanddrunkIt's JULY!!! REALLY!!! I head down to the hotel and enjoy the "complementary" breakfast before heading to the rocks/beach to secure a good spot... We spend the morning swimming and relaxing beachside. I head upstairs to get the rental car delivery and then organize a hotel for tomorrow in Hvar. Phin and I are planning to drive to Montenegro to see the bay of Kotor and the Stali Grad (Old Town) of ...
Kotor, Croatia madman96Got to the Happy Hippo Hostel in Budva, Montenegro where I would set up camp for the longest stay this month (6 nights). I'm a sucker for free internet and DVD library. It's pretty much the only formal hostel in Montenegro so it was a big hub for off-season travellers. Met many travellers whom I would see along the rest of my journey. Paths cross quite frequently when there ...
Sveti Stefan, Serbia and Montenegro lilyc... I try the hotel Rendez Vous, just in case. Didn't really want to stay in a hotel as everything is so expensive already, but didnt see what other option I had. Cue me getting lost again. Its only a tiny town I dont know I managed it! Finally got there, and was told that there was 1 room left, for 40 Euros, and that it wouldnt be ready for another hour. So I dumped my bag, and wandered around the town getting my bearings for an hour. Curiously, when I ...
Kotor, Serbia and Montenegro sarahx... amazing and a sobering look at what war does on a local level. I think that when we hear of war in another country, we usually hear of casualties and bombings of major establishments. We don't usually hear of the homes lost, the streets torn to shreds, and worst of all, the UNESCO sites destroyed. Those are things you cannot replace. All that touring required some down-time contemplation, followed by a siesta of course. On our way back out to the old town, we spoke to our ...
Dubrovnik, Croatia the_stammsHello!! We are in one of the most BEAUTIFUL cities in Eastern Europe. We arrived in Dubrovnik around 9pm on Sunday, took a bus to the Old Town and was met by a grandmotherly-type, who offered us a room (or "sobe", as they are called). The place was just a minute up the road, just outside of Pile Gate - the main entrance to the Old town of Dubrovnik. If this had been high season, we would have been a 10 minute bus ride away from the main ...
