... of a water flushing toilet.
Today we will wander around the old city with trips to the open air market and the archeological museum.
The ferry and airplane rides seem to affect my (Nancy's) inner ear in a way that on land, everything continues to move. It is annoying and made hiking up and down rocky hillsides a little extra challenging. Hopefully it will quiet down now that there are nop more ferry rides.
... Greek story tellers - the Minoans were highly organized and technologically advanced some 4000 years ago, and well before the Greeks. The palace grounds were bought from the Turks in 1900, by a British archaeologist, Harold Evans, and he spent the next 35 years investigating and restoring (controversially) the ruins. Well done Evans and another yah boo sucks to Lord Elgin.
We went to one of the beach front bars near Leoniki Residence for cocktails. The view at ...

By the time we arrived at the airport it was fully light. Stood in a lond que(sp?) for check-in where we were told that our plane was delayed adnd that would we would hear further news at 10 am! Crete, Greece lindsey-canadaWe didn't have much time here but my wife, one of my sisters and my brother-in-law walked around the town square and did a little shopping. There was a jazz exhibit at a local church that we checked out. They had some wonderful pictures of Louie Armstrong, Miles Davis and other icons of the jazz world. One of my nephews went to the beach and his mom, brother and his fiancé took a tour. My two ...
Crete, Greece fdxengThrough a series of unfortunate events, this is the sole remaining picture of our magical day in Crete. In all of my genius I deleted the Crete and Turkey photos by accident and boy was that ever a sad day. Of course the first thing I did after getting home from the cruise was upload the Sbux series to Facebook, so now the Starbucks photo is the only one left of Crete :(
Heraklion, Crete, Greece lauren.warnecke... our travelling companions didn't want any, and the meal was good. Mmm, I'm developing a real fondness for Greek salad and bread dipped in olive oil. Our table was right over the metro tracks, on the other side of which was the temple of Haphaestos, wonderfully preserved on the side of a hill. Can you beat that for a table with a view? Next we visited the Agora, which includes the afore-mentioned temple, lots of broken columns, stoa (stoae?) and the House of Simon ...
