The German train system is on strike until Monday. That is all BUT the ICE (intercity express) trains. So we did catch our 6:45 AM train from Brussels to Frankfurt. It was a little eerie to see all the trains parked. There were a few running but in most of the stations, like Koln and Bonn, we were the only train.
On the way to pick up the rental car we had this great Iranian cab ...
... service I think I received from the lovely Lufthansa flight attendant that checked me in and you get my current mood. She mentions that she very kindly put me in an exit row seat for my first flight because I'm tall. Nawwww. Unfortunately, it appears she cannot count as I was in the row BEHIND the exit seat row...not only did I not get all that leg room, I had to watch the other giants lounging in the luxurious space! We saw all there is to see in about two hours, and had to plan something to do for the next day, the day before our flight, to ...
... back to the hotel was a spur-of-the-moment boat ride on the Main River. About 50 8-to10 year old boys on a field trip from a French rugby club made trip lively.
What's trip to the city without a little street music. On the pedestrian bridge above the river, a well lubricated but energetic street band blasted out a range of eclectic tunes to an young, enthusiastic crowd.
