... as 1 country when it comes to Eurail, but he didn’t believe us and said we were going to have to buy a more expensive pass. We knew we were right, so had to wait 40 minutes for an internet café to open so we could print proof off the Eurail website. Then we had to wait another ½ hour to show the ticket man! He eventually sold us the right pass, but it was too late to go to Interlaken. We went into the city again and wandered around, took some photos, and I ...
Basel, Basel, Switzerland benanna... the gift shop, we went to the pedestrian area and I searched for gnocchi. I did not find gnocchi on any menus but I did find an Alsatian restaurant, so we all had flammkuechen and a refreshing Swiss wheat beer (mom opted for the Swiss wine).
We didn't stay out too late because tomorrow my vacation starts and we are getting up somewhat early to begin our road trip across Austria, which I am really looking forward to!
... The street that winds behind the theatre past Atlantis to the Elizabethenkirche was shut down to traffic and absolutely overflowing with people. They were squeezed into nooks and crannies with their caipirinhas, cachaca, and beers. Holding the crowds from spilling over into the cross streets were booths selling trinkets and treasures from around the globe, food stalls of amazing variety, and ...

It was like a mirage; crumbling stone pillars and massive bricks rising above the steamy grass in a meadow that seemed never ending.
After that we really could not handle any more heat so we headed back to the blissfully cold car and made our way home.

... lakes of many different shades of blue. You could even tell the difference in architecture between there and Italy. It was a very long day of traveling and I did not quite know the direction to go when I got out of the train station. I went the wrong way, but after asking some locals (which I have become very used to doing), I found the best hostel I have ever been in, a YMCA hostel (which always reminds me of the song, I kept singing ...
Basel, Basel, Switzerland anniemac7... have no problem with in English, especially when geography and politics come into the conversation. I think it's time to dust off the dictionary and start building up some vocab! Another point is that my Basel accent apparently sounds genuine, so when it comes to knowing a particular street in the city for example, people assume I know what they're talking about (even though I usually don't). This doesn't ...
