    ... to allow ventilation
    into the tunnels.
Onwards and upwards we head and it simply seems that this mountain railway
is just never-ending. Just when one thinks we have reached the top of the
mountain its into another tunnel and out it comes hugging the edge of yet
    another mighty high mountain.
Along the way there are a few passing loops and we pass two other steam
hauled trains which are descending the pass.
We are soon about 2000m above sea level ...

It feels good at the end of the day to whizz downhill homeward bound and see those signs for each successive kilometer go by so quickly. The first thing was to check out the price of a cheeseburger in Swiss McDonalds. $2.50CHF - and ...

... free for a while after this trip, I really am sick to death of it. Anyway, I had muesli that we had brought with us and an egg, yoghurt etc. and two coffees before heading out. Firstly we caught the ferry to where the cog train left off, then the cog train up this enormous mountain. Switzerland is like the postcards, the snow topped mountains, the big houses and even the cows with bells around there necks. The views from the top were spectacular, however ...

    Train Ride to Lucerne

Up early and off we go. First a bus trip to the monorail, next monorail to Piazalle Roma. Then drag suitcases up and over what must be the biggest bridge in Venice to Santa Lucia train station. Then a train trip to Milan to catch the train to Lucerne. Up to this point it had just been a busy day of carrying suitcases from one mode of transport to another. But, then we ...
