    ... to Verona a change of trains and then on to Milano. Our taxi driver was a bit late because of traffic. He decided to take us down the Roman road to avoid the main roads. This was small and in Aus is it would be one lane/way only. Not here! He gave us a lovely history lesson on the way.     ... blackberries, grapes and plums. After about 8 km we ended at the lake and had a lovely swim. The water was cool and it was very different to the dams back home. Clear water instead of murky, pebbles instead of mud, sunbathers on grass, deck chairs and towels instead of sandy beach, there was one little caravan for food and the town really did not meet the touristy bit.     ... They do not seem to do salad and mains together here. We walked around the castle in the dark. It is all lit up and stunning. More photos. Our room is dark with it's imposing dark furniture and panelled walls and the lighting is dim. Just as you would expect really. We realised that we can't remember where our AU SIM cards were put.     We've just finished a deliciously satisfying lunch of pizza and beer at Cornale, a bicigrille (bike grill) that caters mostly to the cyclists who ride the cycle path along the Brenta River. We still have 24 k until our hotel in Bassano del Grappa, but we've already climbed the day's hills; the remainder will be a gentle ride on the cycle path at the river's edge. ...
