The quads cramped up in the last few km's so I couldn't stand up out of the saddle and then my left hamstring cramped in the last hundred odd meters but other than that it was just a matter of willing myself to keep turning those pedals over and watching the meters tick off.
I finished 77th out of 120 starters in my category so fairly happy considering the course isn't built for a larger guy like myself.
Went out this morning to scope out climb #2, headed south towards Rovoreto which is about 15km south of Trento. The climb is over 750m in elevation from top to bottom but no really steep sections, so spun up it in an easy gear so as not to tax the legs too much before tomorrow. Passed through a little village called Castellano before hitting the descent - superfast with some 80kmph sections without even pushing it.

After that, Rach and I headed into town for the opening ceremony, trying to keep the eyes open by then. It was held in the Piazza Duomo which is quite spectacular and a cloud shrouded moon made for some good pics.
Had some pasta for dinner and headed back to the Hotel after that, try to catch up on some sleep...
