... during the week, but gets very busy on the weekends. Such a nice nice place where life is pretty laid back. Great place to get acquainted with Japanese village lifestyle. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, even if out hotel room was the smallest room so far. No kidding it would be no more than 10 square metres. Still beats a capsule hotel.
Tomorrow we are taking the bus to Nagoya at 12pm. Will take 2.5 hours to get to Nagoya. I have a feeling the wet weather will follow us to Nagoya

This was topped off with Japanese tea and then coffee. The presentation and service was excellent, and if I had been given this at 7.30pm rather than 7.30am I am sure I would have been able to eat the lot. David ...

After moving on every couple of days, we decided to enjoy 5 nights in one spot. Takayama was a lovely little town with the river running through it and shrines galore amongst the cedar trees. The town is renowned for its carpentry and its Hida beef. Both are excellent!! The beef is usually cut very thinly so it melts in your mouth. ...

... a local bus up to the folk village which is a collection of traditional houses moved from the surrounding area to form a museum. We couldn't do it justice as the thick snow lying on the paths made it impossible to enter some of the wooden houses. We still learnt about the silkworm cottage industries and the local passion for doll collecting. For lunch we went to a local noodle bar to fortify us for a walk around the ...
