... when cooked a unique melty experience. Yes i am raving but i'm serious, it was that good and if anything, i've never tasted anything like it. Go gastro-tourism!

The next day was our day of hardcore sightseeing which included going to see the traditional folk village which has reconstructions of various traditional houses, and examples of traditional art such as exceptional woodcutting, in a beautiful country setting. Also on the list were: the old style ...

Takayama, Chubu, Japan eloise75... but we couldn't find it. Finally asked at a post office and found out we’d been reading the map upside down. Kuso. Walked back through town, in the rain. Turned on the right street, but still didn’t see the hotel. So I called them. Unfortunately, at "Oyado Banyo. No English." He finally hung up on me. Kuso. Walked a little farther down and saw the ryokan on another street. Finally.

The ...

Takayama, Chubu, Japan downunder08couldn't get to the computer last nite. only have a minute this morning.
took a train here yesterday. it's up in the "mountains", which are like big hills. it's really such a neat town. their specialty here is making sake and woodworking. i think i'll get a few real pretty bowls.
tim said yesterday on the train "show me the pictures of sedona", he was really missing her and he continues to narrate. as of ...
Takayama, Chubu, Japan clemandpoAs the title suggests, I really shouldn't have gone to Kamikochi today. It didn't bode well from the start--I forgot my maps and guides and the driver was particularly worried about me and lack of clothes, as it was SNOWING up in Kamikochi. Which I didn't really appreciate the severity of because from Matsumoto even the tallest hills didn't have any snow on the ground and though Kamikochi is a mile above sea level, it's a valley between two parallelt taller mountain ranges ...
Kamikochi, Kanto, Japan mchaoSo karma really is a *****. I arrived in Takayama to great weather--sunny, warm. The town or rather small city is a bit bland around the station but it's got some nice mountains and a renown old district. Since I got in around noon, thought I'd take it easy and see the folk village (Hida no Sato), which is basically a historical park of old farmhouses from centuries ago. They were moved here to preserve them from being flooded when all these hydroelectric ...
Takayama, Chubu, Japan mchao... was a lovely woman - full of good humour and laughter, if limited English, and as we were having such a good time and hadn't yet organised accommodation for the next night, we asked once more if they could squeeze us in. They came back and said they could fit us in another really small room, which we happily accepted - let's face it - all we wanted to do was sleep there! Saturday 3rd May Alison: We had heard from some other guests that the shop next door ...
Takayama, Japan chalmersfamily... out and see the mountains, granted it was during the day and you weren't nearsighted like me... Apparently you're supposed to bathe for 3 minutes in the indoor one, and then bathe in the out door one for a bit, and do that 3 times. We only bathed one of the cycles, with a quick soak indoors after coming back inside to melt away the cold from the air. I only had the patience to do it once anyway. At the end of it, I was getting so hot I couldn't bear to sit in there ...
