... moved and then as if to add one last jab she said, " Atleast we'll get away from the coughing guy", so now we are the ones who will catch sickness because we wanted out seats. We are damned if we do, damned if we don't. One way or another we can never make the people of the train happy.

We arrive in Genoa at the stop we think is ours. The weather is hot and sunny. We have a two hour lay over, so we stroll over to this beautiful town square that is within ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy konaduyThis morning we woke up to get ready to go on the Historic Center walking tour of Genoa. We had a nice breakfast at the buffet and I even found a decaf cappa for breakfast too. We met in the lounge at 8:45 and got on a little boat in the harbor and had a tour of the harbor and then got off at the aquarium and started our tour. Genoa is very nice and the historic section dates back ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy mamafeathersDestination 404

km197'196

A wonderful winding route via a inland section have lead me from Pisa to the coastline around Genova. But since in that part of the environment it was very hard to find a spot for bushcamping I took the toll freeway to prevent to get stuck in the chaotic traffic of Genova and headed north into the highlands of the northern region of Genova. A beatiful spot at the top of a mountain has provided perfect views to sunset and sunrise, but a bloody cold night!

Borghetto di Borbera, Piedmont, Italy martinasfamilyEmbarrassing isn't it? The bird (Jamie) speaks the lingo, FLUENTLY, in the 2 countries we've been to so far. And how do I get by? By attempting to communicate with the locals like Terry Scott in an episode of "Terry and June", where they holidayed in France for the week!! Communication menthods being, speak slowly and shout. My word, that was a funny episode! They don't ...
Arenzano, Italian Riviera, Italy jamieandjasonso left avignon today with thoughts to head to cinque terre, but due to traffic jam only made it as far as arenzano. found a cute pensione and jason was getting sick of driving so seemed like a good place to stop. tried a few others but was like walking through a sad run down old people town so didn't make it more than 5 mins there. well, happy hour time now, so will write more later....
Arenzano, Italian Riviera, Italy jamieandjason... Full of Spanish students and odd locals watching NCIS and old Ted Danson movies in Italian. Also wathced a bit of Italian Deal or No Deal which seemed to like playing the themes from Halloween, Schindlers List, The Rock/Crimson Tide, and other various movies. However, the old ladies which ran the place were really nice and mothering.

I did curse the place when I tonight went out to get food and found that the local ...
Genoa, Italian Riviera, Italy bharden... my hands on it! When I got on the roof I had to slowly pry the inside of the sunroof open through that little crack I could stick my fingers through (Thank god I have small hands) I got it open a little bit but then it stuck….so Chris found a branch and I used that to pull the rest of the cover open! Now we have a great view of the keys on the front driver’s seat but still no way of getting them! Our initial attempts to open the door using a stick through the sunroof ...
Genoa, Liguria, Italy ktchris... which was better than in San Gimignano but still not as good as in Rome. Since we left the girls back at the villa, we left Volterra around 5:30. When we got back, the girls met us at the door (they were clearly waiting for us!), lead us into our room where they had set up a restaurant called "G D" restaurant which stands for "Great Daughters". They had made up the room, created a menu and served us bread and Caprese salad appetizer and pesto pasta for dinner. The wine was also ...
Cinque terre, Italy earlgirl94... I could find. As a result, I got fried. That night after dinner, we decided to take a bottle of wine out to the seawall to cool off. We watched as the moon beams reflecting from the water seemed to follow us no matter where we stood, and we sat down to watch the waves massage the rocks. We both talked about how we really love being around the ocean and probably didn't take advantage of it as much as we should have in New York. But then again, you don't really think ...
