... active port, serviced by both trucks from all over the country and still some rail cars from the south.

Puerto Limón is located in the province of Limón. The city is not a tourist destination. And we were told by multiple folks in San José that “it’s just a city”. However, we were excited to visit the largest city on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica and see some of the history in this old city, ...

in one day. ...

I guess it is just us conforming to the Backpacker Code, and in particular Rule 2 - 'Never allow yourself to be comfortable - it's unfair'. Our next stop was 5 kms down the road at a place called Casa Moabi. This jungle hostel had received a 98% rating on ...

... to what we had done in Monteverde but this tour was more silent (the cables had a rubber coating) and therefore less of a disturbance to the local fauna. However, what made it lack in noise pollution also made it slower so it was less of an adrenaline rush (perhaps also because it wasn't our first experience), but the day was sunny and beautiful so we enjoyed the experience, especially before hitting the road back to San Jose. We left Veragua very happy and satisfied with our time ...
