In the morning, we get our beach things ready and get down to the lake. You can swim in the lake so we stay most of the day swimming, snorkelling, reading and sunbathing. A recommended visit, Lake Bled has a castle on a hill in the middle and mountains stretching up above in the background. We have a fantastic day. At one point, we have swum side to side across the lake when I say to Jonny, "Oh my, are those big dark ...

... 22k that day in quite warm conditions which I felt quite proud about seeing how many people were around and on a bus. We were naturally super tired so after a quick shower headed straight back out for an early dinner, which I must say was probably one of the best grilled dinners we had. Off the ferry and drove to a ruin at Dodoni. Met an English guy there who told us a about Vikos gorge near Ionia that we shouldn't miss.

Drove up to the gorge past all the old pack horse stone bridges in Zagoria - to the top of the gorge and up the mountain behind it ... very spectacular scenery. Particularly nice parked up the top in the middle of a thnderstorm.

Kalambaka is home to Meteora and its immense rock mountains. Meteora roughly translates to 'In the Heavens Above' or 'Middle of the Sky'. Nestled among these rock mountains are several Eastern Orthodox monasteries.

Apparently, the first hermits arrived in this area to seek spiritual isolation ...
