    Motor to xxxx canal. Missed hourly bridge opening by 10 mins. Unusual bridge- on a pontoon that rotates to side from one end. Narrow channel for a couple miles through marsh country which opened out to a windy stormy bay open to Ionian Sea.     ... boats, this canal is nothing like the Grand Union, more like the Norfolk Broads. There are no locks just the swing bridge and, around the bridge a hive of industrial activity. Not very pretty, but certainly interesting. When we came out of the canal into the open sea it was calm and peaceful, but no wind, so had a couple of hours just motoring up the west side of the Greek mainland.
