Friday 23 May 2014 – Got off to a good start this morning. Although Malcolm had cereal for breakfast the girls had in mind something a little more "french". So after leaving the apartment we headed down the street to a lovely café, Pauls which I imagine many would have seen before. Such a warm and dare I say, very French atmosphere.

Our plans were to catch the train to Vernon, then the shuttle bus to Giverney to visit Monet's garden. We would be back in time ...

... Notre Dame cathedral for a look inside. It is beautiful but eerie at the same time. After Notre Dame we strolled along the Seine, as you do when in Paris, to the Pont des Arts bridge (also known as the love lock bridge). ... a public holiday, the Metro is crowded. However, it is similar to the tube, and we can easily navigate our way to Ligne 4 and Chatelat, then follow Elodie's treasure map directions to find her apartment. I say easily, but we had to carry our bags up and down so many stairs........onto other train platforms and through these deadly doors like a sideways guillotine, where you have to push your bags through before they are beheaded.
