Rafael, the owner is great. We did a little work in the school and then set off on a trek. Paths, through beautiful spanish countryside, with the occasional off-piste trek making our own paths through the woods. (It was more of on top and in the trees rather than through.) Phil, Sophie and Sue visited the Arab baths built in 1194 and we all then walked along the path that is called St Christopher's Way taking many photos. We all thought the city was very pretty and well worth the visit.
The spanish do speak very quickly but we have been getting by with Sue knowing some Spanish and Phil with his Italian which has similar words.
... in touch with after our time here. Spaniards refer to our year as a parentesis -- a parenthesis. We certainly wrangle grammar on a daily basis (especially the many versions of past tense in Spanish) but the notion of this as a way to describe our experience really resonates with me.
