... So while we waited for midnight we swung by there. It was very relaxing, and different to the electronic ones, which sounds a little strange, but it did feel different. We relaxed in there for an hour or so (in and out of course) and then sat down by the river for some champagne! Very relaxing.
Being at a ski resort, the hotel had no shortage of hills, and there was another hotel at the top of one of those said hills where you could go for a good view of the sun at midnight. ...

The night sky was partly clear and I was hoping to get a glimpse of the Northern LIghts. A local brochure said that the aurora is visible 200 days a year in this area but the cloud cover often gets in the way. Alas there was no light show this night.

Arriving back to our now spotless boat, all that remained to do was to pack the car, shut all the seacocks and lock her up, not without a tiny hint of worry about her, at least on my account. So at around 12:30, we were off on our travels, destination Rovaniemi, about 110 miles as the crow flies.

... the boxes. Dessert seemed an unusual combination, leipäjuusto (a type of cheese) cooked in a vanilla cream served with handpicked cloudberries, but was a deliciously tasting surprise.
The remainder of the evening, and a few hours of early Sunday morning, was spent in a continual cycle of sauna, palju and rolling in the snow, all the while tasting a variety of Finnish beers.

Rovaniemi is on the Arctic Circle and we arrived on the longest day of the year! Ha ha. At this latitude the sun rises for the last time on the 6th June and does not set until the 7th July.
Got back to Rovaniemi railway station about 18.45 - and ...
