    Our road trip continued to Rovaniemi and we were surprised by the number of buses coming in the opposite direction, but perhaps it was because today, in Finland, is a public holiday and people are travelling home after their Christmas vacation.

    We arrived at Katja's in the early evening, but after a day of travelling all we could do was just flop down on sofa to watch ...

    ... was one puppy and he was particularly active. I felt sorry for them being locked up because they didn't have much room to move with three in a pen. We bought a couple of postcards at the post office, before heading back to Rovaniemi and farewelling Maria. After a quick break to gather our thoughts, we walked over to the other side of town to the arctic museum, which told the story of life in the Arctic Circle. Then it was back to the hotel for a quick meal and some much-needed ...

    ... ourselves to him and he had us sit either side of him to have a wonderful chat! He is obviously used to having a good old chat to strangers and was very friendly! We asked Santa to send some letters and postcards home to some very special children! We told him what we would like for Christmas and bid him farewell! The whole encounter was recorded on video an we had a couple of photos taken. All of which we can access on the internet! ...

    ... Our timing was a bit lousy because it coincided with Santa's half hour lunch break or maybe it was his letter reading shift? The Post Office is fascinating, every letter sent from anywhere in the world addressed to Santa in Lapland or North Pole gets delivered here...and there have been over 165 million of them over the years and about 500,000 last Christmas alone.

    ... Kimi Raikkonen, the Finnish Formula 1 driver. I'm glad I booked 5 months in advance otherwise I wouldn't have got a seat. We soon pick up four Chinese girls (not in that sense!) and drive south along the coast road. Slightly stomach churning due to all the twists and turns and the rocking and a rolling. When last here in 1998, we had to catch a ferry to the North Cape island but now there's a 7km long tunnel which makes life easier.
