It was a lovely day today. Minus 17 degrees, cold enough to put icicles on your eyelashes, and we spent most of the day just enjoying our snow village. We spent time in the ice park, which we entered through a giant igloo with ice sculptures and a bar inside and a big bed with reindeer hides for covers. An exciting moment as we touch down in Rovaniemi airport and step outside- time for the thermals!! There is snow piled high and because Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland, and because Lapland is the home to Santa Claus; signs of the happy chappy are all about!

We were then boarded onto a coach for the ice road journey through snow covered trees and huts, to our final Finnish destination- Luosto, deep in the Arctic Circle.

... kids have dark eyes and skin for some reason. A Russian woman in the cafe talks very decent Finnish with Mirka.
The shopping center closes, McDonald's across the road offers free WiFi. Teenagers rant around us. Next to me are two girls and one boy. The latter obviously suffers from a hearing problem, asking "ha?" every time one of the girls says something. Has been listening music too loud, perhaps?
It doesn't look good with the clouds, also the KP-index ...
