... fading.

We just had enough to warm up in the pub with another pint before dinner was served. We started with cheese fondue with bread. Was very disappointing… they add a liquor into the cheese and it had an overpowering flavour. On a more pleasant note, we then had rosti (swiss grated potato) and local sausage. After dinner Joel and I went for a walk with the camera through the village to get pictures of the stars and the lights. When we ...

21 June

A big travel day so not a lot to report. We left Nice at 8am and arrived in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland at around 6.30pm. Then we starts the tour around the mountain. We looked out over the valley from many lookouts. We walked through then ice palace. Then ...

... 8217;s 8 people on a rotation! Anyways, I digress. After settling in a bit and unpacking a bit, we all met up inside the hotel’s restaurant for a Swiss cheese fondue demo. It started with a bit of white wine, and once the cheese and corn starch were whisked in (for thickening- to make it "sticky"), a shot of cherry Schnapps was added. This was so tasty! When I make fondue at home I always start with a lager… either way, they’re both good. We broke apart to sit at ...

... perhaps it was just the altitude, but there was something therapeutic about it, all troubles seeming to melt away at eleven thousand feet above sea level.

A half hour train ride from Interlaken, the tiny village of Lauterbrunnen is where we decided to take shelter over Christmas. The town is located within an immense valley, framed by rocky cliff faces where many waterfalls cascade down into the chasm. Whilst the winter period saw the vast majority of these waterfalls ...
