... interesting to close ourselves in the tiny prison cell in one of towers and imagine how a prisoner might try to soak up every possible ray of sun that shone through the small window and keep mentally occupied while locked up in there. Old school prison...no cable tv, library, free legal guidance... just cold, hard time. And a torture chamber.
All those thoughts of confinement and imprisonment just made us hungry, ...

... view is well worth it!!

We explored the inner ice caves and the plateau on the peak for amazing photos and great fun. It was a little chilly at 5.6 degrees but warm in the sun :) after our exploring it was back for a dinner of chicken with creamy mushroom sauce with potato Rosti - delicious and the food is MUCH better than I expected! A few local beers with tea and it was in for an early night!

... there" list for many years. Today it has sort of a ghost town feeling due to the weather. The sun is brief. I look in at the hostel there and then try to find the small cheese shop in town. It's closed. The weather is really a disappointment. I heard that the the snow received yesterday was the most they have had this far into Spring in 30 years. Aren't we lucky to be a part of history :(.

After that I found a door that opened out onto a trail with rope railings that led off into the surrounding mountain. It was warm at the doorway, but the outside appeared to be total whiteout conditions with blizzard force winds. That area was also very crowded and it took me about 10 minutes to get a few feet outside the door to take a photo. I was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt and my Vest until that point, and ...

... a night under a roof, rather than our wet tent, but it didn't end up being that much of a treat as staying in the tent cost almost as much. Indeed, we were talking with some Australians and since they had a car, which also has a charge if you are camping, it was cheaper for them to stay in the dorms there. Crazy. Also crazy was that absolutely everything had a pay as you go scheme, including hot water for dishes and even the power in the kitchen ...
