... We went all the way to Lauterbrunnen and then another 50 minutes to the Falls. At least this path was easy. Along the way we saw parachute jumpers and stopped to watch as they jumped off the mountain. ... off on our trip. It was two train rides and a bus ride - a mini adventure - with 10mins for each transfer. The last transfer at Lauterbrunnen we got off the train on the platform side and couldn't see where to go. We asked a nearby railways person and she guided us back to the train, pushed the button, and said go through the train to the other side, across the tracks, then to the end of the station - the bus is right there. It didn't feel as cold as I thought - it wasn't snowing so ...

... John Wayne, the Asian guy. He got to go up in the helicopter flew around a bit, landed on top of a mountain to try and wait for the rain to clear but no bingo. Then they charged him about 100 francs for the 'scenic flight' which when Clare found out she was not happy with. Dinner tonight was cheese fondue, which was a little strange cuz it was made with red wine so tasted quite strong. Then roast pork!!! So good to just have veggies ...

... look at the weather and decide. We followed his advice and just bought the round trip, minus Schilthorn. We were soon in the clouds as we ascended. At the top, Grutschlap (1486 metres) there was a little train waiting to take us to Murren. It made one stop at Winteregg where some young guys got off - not sure if they were going to walk to the falls or go hang gliding. ... here, and our hotel (offering a balcony with a spectacular view of the mountains) reminded Sara of her grandparents' camp in the Adirondacks. We spent most of the evening drinking wine and chatting with the inn manager, and were reluctant to have to leave the next morning. We have decided to skip Zermatt, so off to Italy we go!
