As it turns out, filling that day wasn't so much of a problem.... we tootled out of town, found a beach, wandered about & looked at the boats; tootled back, found somewhere to eat, had a chat with a few Brits and - hey presto! - before you knew it, time for bed! But the one on board was a bit more of a challenge... all 13 hours of it! BIG ...
Bari, Apulia, Italy marcdolav... facade that Japan presents the west. But the characters themselves come off as impressions of tortured souls less than actual people.

Maybe after spending some more time in Tokyo I'll give it, or more likely Out, another read.

The one interesting thing I did pick up from this book is that happas apparently lose their stunning good looks as they approach middle age - sorry Robbo.

<br ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy david_chung... funny to watch. The other variation is to run up to a random person, touch them and say 'tag your it' and then just run off... the looks on the random people's faces is priceless!

Its amazing what you think of to kill time when your stuck on a boat!! But what european ferry isn't complete with out a room full of pokie machines! On the way to the bathroom i passed this room with a handfull of change i wanted to get rid of. Luckily the odds were in my ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy ianforster... a taxi that you haven't called. Jyles insisted though.
I checked the locks on the doors before I got in, and made sure I could escape. It was legitimate, but in a normal situation I would have said no.

We got to the ferry terminal just on time. Since it was an overnight ferry, we got bunk beds and had an awesome sleep.
Bari, Puglia, Italy burles... It was edible, if not a bit onthe lukewarm side. We scoffed down food with Calvin and chatted. After dinner we went back to "our seats" and gathered a group to play Phase 10, including Calvin. The game was good fun, other people were playing Guess Who and Barbie Uno. we wrapped it up midnight ish..and headed to bed. Cory came first, Calvin last..ah well.. the luck of the game. No alarm and giving breakfast a miss tomorrow..sleep in!
Bari, Puglia, Italy jasndanThe most surprising thing I found before leaving England was that no one even know where Basilicata was! Even friends who thought they knew Italy well weren't aware of Basilicata as its not very well known. On the plane from Stansted, most of the English people we spoke were going on holiday to visit family or friends and most were staying in Puglia, not Basilicata.

If you're planning to visit Basilicata, you will defintely need ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy louise123Woke up at the Hostel early to a catch our train.

Took an hour long train to Napoli. In Napoli we had about 45 minutes till our next train, so we decided to get coffee. Apparently here, you go the the register (before you can look at anything) and order what you want. Then you take it to the counter and they give you what you ordered...crazy. Well after 3 attempts each at a ...
Bari, Puglia, Italy ryanandamandaMy friends and I stayed at this bed and breakfast in Mola just south of Bari. It was the best yet. Large old English style accomodations, we stayed in an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, large veranda overlooking the main street. It even had a full kitchen. The breakfast was the best we have experienced. It is worth the trip just for the accomodations. A nice beach area with breath taking views is just 10 minutes south in Polignano.

A must see for those off the tourist path.
Mola di Bari, Puglia, Italy vanessaabbyThis is where Pietro, an old Italian guy, jumped into Bruce and navigated us to the trulli. He saved us from a traffic jam in the narrow streets of Puglia.

Pete was also called Pietro while in Italy. :-)

Trullo comes from the Greek word, "tholos" – meaning “dome”. See the pictures of the wee houses.

We found the Belvedere pub here too - also the name of our local in Aus – meaning “beautiful view”. It was beautiful.
Putignano, Puglia, Italy broose09... pensione right next to that same hotel for just 23€ the night before, so we decided to stay there. It was a pair of large rooms in a private apartment on the third floor, so the Canadian guy, Brian, and I took one room, and the Canadian girl, Burdine, and Eniko took the other. We went to the hotel next door and had a nice dinner, then went to bed. We slept late the next morning, figuring we had nothing to do until that night at 8:00 when the ferry left. We ...
