    ... Greece has seized the southern half of modern Macedonia and has now 'colonized' it as Greek.

    There are 84 wall paintings in total and about a dozen outside. They took ten years to paint and used Russian, Ukrainian, and Serbian painters. You can only photograph the ones in the atrium outside.

    ... amongst others, literally metres from each other.

    Just a short walk away is the huge Porta Macedonia, a big Arc de Triomphe type gate that cost €4.4m to build and commemorates the struggle for Macedonian independence. This opens up the the pedestrianised central area with the huge "Warrior on a Horse" (and quite obviously Alexander the Great) statue that symbolises the project.

    ... for our flight to London on the 26th. And we hope to spend a few days there before we fly out. Even if it's not real warm, we'll at least be out of the snow and ice and brutal cold of the Balkans this time of year. We'll be on the Turkish Riviera at Antalya.

    Check that..... It seems that since I was here in 2000, the tourism council has changed the name of this area, a massive package tourist draw. It's now the "Turquoise Coast."
