... at a riverside picnic. We finished our exploring with a stroll through the local souvenir shops.

Mike and Will both fell asleep on the second train getting home. Lots of Japanese people sleep on the train, so they fit in fine. Will was so exhausted that he slept through the train transfer and the final stint to our station. I reflected on our day and realized that I should take the bus more often. Will loves it and it will expand the places we can see without ...

This is usually where people start their climb to the top. However, with it being out of season, we opted for a hike around the upper part of the mountain and were rewarded with amazing views of both Mt. Fuji and some of the 5 lakes during the autumn. I took way to many pictures but just found ...

... our 'regional' train to Hakone. From the station it was about a half hour drive to the cable car, not unlike driving the windy roads of Mt Buffalo. Unfortunately the cable car was not running but we were happy with our day's activities. First to the shrine where the cedar trees were huge. After wandering through the main hall we were fortunate to see a traditional wedding party and then some cute little kids all decked out in traditional garb. Kaoru explained that at age 3 both ...
