... the beach was nice, a few people drinking mate, and we picked up a few shells. There are about 40 kms of developed shoreline in Mar Del Plata, much of it beach. There are many country clubs, and it seems everywhere you look the beach is lined with rows and rows of cabanas. ... and they created a pineapple daiquiri - it was great. We ordered several empanadas, and Martin received a text from a couple he knew from Buenos Aires who we had run in to earlier. They came and met us at the restaurant and we had a nice time chatting. After a few hours there, the other couple left, and we headed to an artisanal beer pub not too far away. ... the land is flat and there are lots of cattle farms, and some sheep. The road was not too busy, and it took about 4 1/2 hours to make the trip. We passed through several small towns and followed a river for some way, with several small shops on the side of the road selling fishing supplies. Apart from that there are two restaurants and a row of interesting houses across the road; one looks like a mosque complete with blue dome, another has an all glass front, the next looks like it belongs in the French countryside. Like Comodoro, the town is nestled in these big dirt hills. Maybe this is to keep out the wind because it really blows here. Really really blows.
