... to Orleans - it is self service. The Tours stop was straight forward - the connecting bus was only over 1 bay. Not too long a wait. About 30 min into the next journey there was a driver swap. The first leg had been driven by an older gentleman and we now had a very dapper looking guy - pink striped shirt, dog tag necklace, bracelets and a dashing vest topped off with white patent pointed shoes. At Chateauroux I asked the ...

... unusual. The French are connoisseurs with many foods and wine but not the coffee we were accustomed with. I looked out the window this afternoon and walking through the car park was a man (a Billy Connelly look alike) with a crow sitting on his forearm! The evening was spent with Sue and Peter - and was very entertaining. Peter reminds me so much of Ted Forsyth and has such a wonderful dry wit. The food was superb (except for the tagliatelle) and the service was impeccable. Some chose a starter and main while others had main and dessert - ...

... of rose or cider and then icecream. Icecream and sorbet is certainly becoming a favourite for the team - morning or afternoon tea and as a dessert option with lunch or dinner. The flavour options are amazing. Icecream is also sold at all the tourist places - so it is hard to resist. On our return journey to Chinon we stopped off and examined some Chinon grapes. Each row had a rose planted at the start - as in ...

... there using the one way streets. This was a good move as we easily worked out where to drive and we were soon at our hotel "Hotel Diderot".

Our hotel is charming and very French! It is surrounded by a delightful garden with many sitting areas outside. Wish we were here for much longer than just overnight! We are on the 2nd storey of the hotel, no lift, so we had to carry the bags up the stairs. Ground to level 1 are good wide stairs, but level 1 to ...
