Bad day to be sick...

... hard beds. The humidity was ridiculous. We both took a cold shower to cool off and attempted to get some sleep. Puerto Viejo offers a great nighttime soundtrack of cat fights, dogs barking, roosters, and late night partiers. This is when the food poisoning kicked in. We both woke up and felt like we just got our butts kicked...nausea, upset stomach, aching all over...Brutal. Bryan and I stumbled out of the room and went to buy the first bus ticket outta here. With a bus ticket ...

Bocas del Toro....meh

... spent only 4 days there. It also could have been for the fact that it rained for two of these days and Bocas, as all beach towns, is BORING when it rains during the day.
In conclusion Bocas gets a meh only because of the sick parties the islands knows how to throw. Perhaps that is the strategy: "Drink away the pain of your burning skin and foul tasting mouth from our town´s ability to squander its natural resources by dumpings its waste where you surf!"

Rainy days

... months and was now on a separate holiday to Central America while we are still plugging away at the same trip!

If all this sounds like I'm raggin on Bocas, I'm not - it certainly has the potential to be a top spot, and I can see why people get stuck there for weeks at a time. However, the weather is a definite prerequisite to having a proper good time here, so the continuing rain left us somewhat sick of the place rather sooner than expected. And so, we left.

... but is supposedly getting better. Leave your valuables behind if you go. The owner is Scottish, moved her family of two young boys, two dogs and a cat here and just couldn't be happier. She really promotes the Ngobe goods and all of her products from lip balm to insect repellent are completely natural. I love them!!! She also makes some remarkable chocolate from the local grown cacoa beans and she gave us a sampling of "honeymoon" truffles ...

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica ... Day 5

It was yet another beautiful sunrise. The rain last night brought out frogs and you name it, all creatures were roaming around. It would have been about 5:45 a.m. The decision as to what to do today? No itinerary was planned. Maybe a drive to Cahuita or to Bribri, there are no set plans so we weren't sure what the day would bring. Upon walking along the beach, two horses ventured up to us, like they knew us. We had to feed them as they ...

So we're looking at a wasp hive, Erwin gets a phone call. "I have to go if you don't mind, there might be trouble." 30 minutes later Erwin returns with the story. Ronaldo walked in and ...

Bocas Del Toro, very unfortunate events.

... after talking to the police Julia and I ran to the internet cafe to find a contact for Joey, and Kevin went on the boat with a couple officers to patrol the beach. After searching for around an hour, they had no luck and went back to main Island. We were told the next morning that a group of ten divers were at Wizard Beach searching. The three of us went to the investigation office and filled out a report with the help of translator. We were also intouch with the ...

Trip to Bluff Beach

The sun was up early for us as requested at reception...so by 8am we were having a delicious coffee at the terrace of the hotel dipping our feet in the Carribbean sea. It was wonderful to observe starfish all over the place and strange fish which we did not know how to identify (the pictures are not very clear sadly). We the went for breakfast at "Lilys" which is a coffee and restaurant which also has its terrace built over the sea. Veronika tested the local ...
