Our upstairs room was tiny, but very charming and the neighbouring bathroom was a triumph of compact design, especially the shower. Like much of the Loire region, there was an abundance of flowers, especially roses, in both public and private areas. There was also an abundance of crops in fields ranging from tiny to medium large. After a few days back in England after our trip from Barcelona we went to the Port of Dover, famous for the song 'The White Cliffs of Dover' sung by Vera Lynn. We then caught a ferry ( by we, I mean us and our cars), and arrived in the French port of Calais roughly forty minutes afterwards. Sunday 4th August The girls went to the local fresh market in the streets of La Flèche, here the food and smells were amazing, fruits/veg, cheeses, seafood, poultry and the raspberries are incredible.
