... We walked across the Helix Bridge,which was lovely. The MRT took us a short walk from Haji Lane, an interesting narrow lane of shops and some eating places. It is in the Arab district and full of character. We bought a few things as we wandered in and out of shops along the short lane.
A taxi home (or near home, the driver didn't know where to go and just dropped us off 5 minutes away) for a rest/pool break before heading out for dinner.
We got a taxi to the Raffles ...
... the tiled floor. After a time (rather a long time if I'm honest - service was slow) our cocktails arrived. The pinky liquid had been poured into a Raffles branded glass which was decorated with a glacé cherry and pineapple slice on a cocktail stick. It was good - but not mind blowing considering it cost $28. Then again, sipping a Singapore Sling in Raffles as you catch up on five months' worth of gossip with your best friend is pretty special. Priceless, ...
... but we had some good views of the city and the workmen dismantling the F1 Grand Prix track and stands from the race 4 days ago. It finally stopped raining while we rode the bus for its whole hour's circuit admiring the skyscrapers, Raffles Hotel, the highly decorated streets (reminiscent of Blackpool Illuminations’ overhead lights) in Chinatown & Little India, the Flyer & the beautiful Gardens By the Bay. ...
... like it!
Then it's out for a stroll, overcast day, breezy, so not too uncomfortable. Ten minutes to Bugis Junction, a large covered market/mall of air-conditioned streets - a bit different, and a shopper's delight (groan...)
