... but it was, in fact, an exhibition on dining in the "moyen age" - medieval times. There were interesting interactive displays behind immensely heavy wooden doors in the tower rooms, all with a different theme and rather well done. Pity we didn't have time to do them justice. This time we found a car park, filling fast, as the streets were now packed with parked cars delivering worshippers. We read a map on a board and decided to try and find the ruined chateau on the ramparts which were partly intact and one of Moncontour's main attractions. ... hour, then back down to earth and down to base camp.

I took a few photos and found Darius a tin of caramels, as requested.

Later in the evening Jonathan dashed over the bridge to the patisserie for a baguette to go with the remainder of our chicken and salad for dinner, and a slice if flan for afters. It has rained steadily all evening.

It had clouded over when we struck out up the hill. We read a few menus and then found a creperie which did just that, crepes - there are a lot of "creperies" here that seem to have very few crepes and a lot of frites and haches (chips and hamburgers) perhaps for the tourists from across the channel.
