After another late start we attempted to locate a supermarket today. We first ate some pineapple and Kathy and I both thought that this would be enough to accompany our malaria tables. How we were wrong. Once we got to the supermarket, we had some intense dizzy spells and just really struggled to get through the shopping. However, we also needed to visit a bank to get money out for our amazon tour. Poor ...

After getting into Manaus and checking into our only partially-renovated hotel (our room was fine, our friends' rooms were less fine--"Brazil happened," they gamely laughed), we walked down to Arena da Amazonia, Manaus' gorgeous new World Cup stadium. And the guy in charge of hearding the miserable sheeple masses just rudely brushes me off when I tell him that my plane is leaving soon. He just tells me to wait in the "priority line" which is going about as fast as Rio traffic.

I'm starting to do the whole, "Pleeeaaase my flight is leaving in fifteen minutes, can ...

      Day 35

... back to our room - we had our cold showers and sorted our stuff out for the next day. Then we headed to the common area - hoping people would be around to hang - but there was just Lucivaldo so we made our excuses and headed back. We were crazy strict about entry to our bed making sure the mosquito net was fully tucked in. And crawling in through and opening. I read some Harry Potter before going to bed. I tucked my phone in my pillowcase and slept after ...
