... byes we headed to the Abbey of Valmagne. This is a 12th Century Benedictine Abbey, set in the midst of the vineyards of Languedoc. Everyone was so full from wine and lunch, we just wandered around, admiring the beauty of something built so long ago. We arrived back at Sete about 5:30 and are now having Happy Hour in the hotel lobby. I don't think anyone is going out to dinner tonight. Our target for the day was to explore the Auvergne area, and see the landscapes with more than 400 volcanoes. Some of the volcanoes are as old as 65 million years, and the youngest about 7'600 years.

... mountain with a steep final ascent. With bread stick, cheese, meat, fruit and croissants in the backpack we spent a good part of the day hiking up and back the beautiful French countryside. Unfortunately the incline was too nasty on my %#^* Achilles so I was unable to complete the final climb with Pito to the top but it was a pretty awesome picnic spot regardless looking out over the mountains, ski trails and serenity.
