... which draws water from 27m from the lake for the local drinking water, as well as numerous villages surrounding the lake. Little harbours were dotted with speed boats, with the sail club on the west coast. The eastern side was dominated by wonderful chateaus of the rich of France, along with a chateau or two all surrounded by mountains and forests. ... surfers, but I would not have liked being out in a small boat fishing! The weather picked up over the bank holiday weekend - it's a holiday in France too. We have had patches of lovely warm sunshine, but most of the time there has been a wind. It comes off the lake and has a cutting edge to it. Our next planned stop was an aire at La Breole. It was a building site. The commune were putting up a building and had fenced off part of the aire for access ...

... managed to navigate back to the bus station (map WITH compass “set” on it i.e. line up compass with N grid lines, turn map until N end of needle lines up with N point on scale, everything should look as you see it on the ground) was the BEST trick I ever learned.
There was no time to visit the gardens or chateau on return to Vizille but Vive La Revolution Anyway!
Everything had to be packed for the ultimate stretch of our adventure and the roads were the great ...
