... Mauz family to a dinner out. All week we had watched them preparing meal after meal for us and we decided enough was enough. They were going to have a dinner that they could enjoy from beginning to end...no negotiation! We went to a restaurant that was a brewery. Tilmann's mother came...as did Nando. The beer and food were all so good. A perfect choice to end a perfect day.

... for the dinner we would have that night. He also made a delicious homemade apple strudel for our afternoon "tea." Oh my...I'm still tasting that one! For dinner we had Sauer Braten, Salat, and Knoedel (dumplings) with homemade Tiramisu for dessert. How am I ever going to leave this amazing place and people??? Tomorrow will be a sad day for sure.

We were fortunate to be here during the time that the town of Schwabisch Gmund (Christine's home town) was having their Landesgartenschau - flower festival. Fun fact...washing is for the weak! At least that's what they used to think many centuries ago. Since they didn't want to wash, their hair was pretty gross so they wore wigs. At night they would put the wigs in bird cages so that the birds could pick out all of the bugs! Kind of a buzz kill for the romantic notion of life in a castle.
