It's 33 degrees, Martijn is asleep, Tonio, my 8 month old nephew is also asleep and I keep on trying to remember whose idea it was to get my mentor class to keep a travel journal when they go away on school trips. Well that's biting me in the ass now that I have to mark 26 of them, while I'd much rather be preparing my own journal. Yup, you heard that correctly. Just like my kids I'm making myself keep a travel journal. At the moment I've filled it up with very useful facts ...

Officially one of my favorite cities, despite of the fact that it was raining, cold, and windy our three days there. I loved this city not only because it is incredibly cheap, but because it is essentially the future. It is the second cleanest place I've ever been to (Salt Lake City being #1), the escalators stop when nobody is on them to conserve energy, and everyone rides bikes. ... is something I found really confronting, despite the fact that I've seen a few similar places in other countries. Essentially this area is a tourist attraction, however it is so demeaning to the women who work there. The age range varied from roughly ...

... at some amazing homes and yards....I know....I have a house obsession...but they are just so pretty! There was a man throwing a tennis ball into the water for his little dog to fetch. The dog brought the ball back to us but wouldn't drop it for us and then suddenly he saw a runner and took off running alongside him with his ball in his mouth basically hitting the guy's heels as he tried to run! Sooooo funny! Eventually he gave up his pursuit and returned to his owner! After our ...

WednesdayWe left the houseboat after a night rain to get to the ship. It was a nice morning so Ed planned the route for us to walk instead of getting the tram. It was about 1.2 miles. Dragging luggage is more difficult, but we made it with a few rest stops. We came across an old couple from Texas who had taken the train in and were walking. They each had a small rolling bag. Surely if a couple that must have been in their eighties could do it, we could! Susan was a ...
