Engelhartszell to Aschach (Austria) 42 Km (plus detour 47 km) We began the cycle in Engelhartszell a lovely little town situated beside the Danube. We biked up to see the the Abbey Engelhartszell - the only Trappist monastery in Austria, before heading over in the morning mist for the days biking. Passau is a city of 50000 at the confluence of three rivers, the Danube,LLz and Inn.St Stephen's cathedral is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Full of art. There is an organ concert every weekday at 1200. Amazing sound as over 1900 pipes are part of this 2nd largest church organ in the world. There are many Neat shops and restaurants. They are recovering from the devastating floods of 2013 so there is much ...

We have unpacked in the cabins...they are quaint, we have a single bed and a fold out bed that is put away by day, the bikes are at the ready on the top deck. We won't have any internet for most of this trip so may not be able to update the blog too often. Off now to our first information ...

... for the trip down the Danube to arrive in Linz late afternoon. St Stephen's church was the highlight of the short tour - a barque style church with the largest organ in Europe. Very ornate decoration but I must admit they are beginning to look much the same. These old towns centre around an old cobblestone square, usually surrounded by cafés and tourist shops with a fountain or statue in the middle and one or more old churches at the ...
