As we'd already eaten, we had time to search out how to get to the Arc of Triumph - this was tricky as it is encircled by about six lanes of constant traffic (no lines are marked but there were cars everywhere) and access is underground. After our snack we walked to the Eiffel Tower park and viewed the tower from a park bench. The tower is massive and I couldnt get enough of it. We learned that it was built for the World Fair and was suppose to be taken down, but in the end it was saved.

At 7:25 we "lined" up to enter the Eiffel Tower. Having advanced tickets was ...

... the garden of the Tuileries Palace in 1564, it was eventually opened to the public in 1667, and became a public park after the French Revolution. In the 19th and 20th century, it was the place where Parisians celebrated, met, promenaded, and relaxed. The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel is a triumphal arch in Paris, located in the Place du Carrousel on the site of the former Tuileries Palace. It was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon's ...
