    ... are talking about a country that is famous for its beer, chocolate and waffles. I must be partially dutch because this ticks all of my boxes! I'll have to buy a new shirt after the steady drool from my mouth today dribbled onto my chest. So much wonderful food and smells! Oh the scents of fresh waffles and delicious sweets...

    ... much so. Many Australians died on the Flanders WW 1 Battlefield and many of them in Ieper. In most countries there are Remembrance Day once or twice a year. In Holland this is May 5 (Liberation day) and in Australia it is April 25 Anzac day and November 11 (date of end of first world war) In Ieper it is done EVERY day at 8 pm. "lest we forget" has a different meaning here. I guess some 300-400 ...

    ... was an elderl...I was going to say elderly, but I guess he was probably no older than us, but....let's just say he's done some long, hard miles....But the amazing part was that he claims to have a brother and sister living in.......Paddington....in Brisbane...certainly no further than a km from us......

    ... every building was rebuilt to the original plans, designs and pictures – mind you, Germany was given the Bill. The rebuild allowed the remainder of the community to relive in their homes, looking like they did prior to the bombings – mind you, it took many years to rebuild to the original plans, but the time and effort was worth it to this Belgian community.
