Today was the last day of the Backroads adventure and ended with a short/relaxing ride prior to saying our goodbyes. After a nice breakfast we all got on our bikes for a ride through Bruges. ... find the hotel/room was moderately nice as we only paid €45. It has a shared shower which was on the first floor and the toilet on the 2nd floor down the hall from the room, parking was free on the street. We walked to the information centre and was shocked it was open, everything is always closed on a Sunday. We got a map and checked out the church. ... and flavoursome and the strawberries were delicious. Yum! Feeling very full, we needed to walk off the waffles, so we headed off on one of the walks listed in the Bruges book Anne had lent us. The 5km walk took us along the canals, through the streets and to the city's windmills. Now that I've seen bonafide windmills, I don't need to go to the Netherlands! ... was an elderl...I was going to say elderly, but I guess he was probably no older than us, but....let's just say he's done some long, hard miles....But the amazing part was that he claims to have a brother and sister living in.......Paddington....in Brisbane...certainly no further than a km from us......
Today I took the train out to Brugge!!! It's An amazing small town. Lots of small shops and restaurants and museums! I fell in love with St. John hospital and went on the best brewery tour I have ever been on - half moon! The town was so cute and romantic I didn't want to leave! Now I'm being forced to pack and head home. WHAT AN AMAZING ...
