... what we should see and do, along with the recommendation to stop at Hotel Xibalba which was close to the centre. Well it was either that or a wooden cabin the jungle sleeping amongst spiders and snakes. I think we chose the best option :) On arrival at the hotel the receptionist spoke little english was was hard to discuss what we were after £1100 pasos each later we were shown to our room, to our relief we entered a lovely room with an en-suite and air conditioning. uprising in this state. There are still signs all over, but the Mexican military came in and are patrolling so things are more peaceful now than in 1994.

It is a bit eery when you are traveling a new country. And you are headed for jungle!!!
They work very hard here to keep the jungle from taking over the highways again.
It is beautiful, mountains and hills. Then we came to AGUA AZUL oh my, wish you were here.

... it was amazing as the photos will show. The canyon was 1km deep at its deepest and we flew through it on a speedboat, stopping to see any wildlife. Saw 2 crocs up pretty close and monkeys in the distance. Loved this town, it had great atmosphere about it. (or maybe I just liked the cold... it was like being at home again...) The churches were fab and this town had lots of amber shops, I enjoyed looking but didn't purchase unfortunately... next ...
