      ... out to me and gives me two pairs of women's hiking socks for free. Either this was his way of giving to the Camino, or I looked totally pathetic. lol. I am very appreciative and I make sure he understands that. Lovely young man. I make my way back toward the Hotel to put on some socks and then the new shoes.       ... had another short distance to walk (17km) to El Burgo Ranero. We walk the 10 kms to Bercianos del Real Camino before stopping at a Bar for coffee and a loo stop. The bar is run by a Spanish woman and her Czech husband who had met walking the Camino 5 years before. She spoke very good English and enjoyed telling their story.       ... first 8 kms were uphill, heading towards La Cruz's de Ferro which is the highest part of our whole journey. We went through an almost deserted village and it was minus 3. We had the whole works - rain, sleet and then snow. God, it was cold but exhilarating as well as between the terrible weather there was snatches of blue sky which allowed us to see the mountains and valleys. Magnificent wildflowers in whites, yellows, mauve and also wild lavender. Very pretty.

      ... were several nations represented. After a shower we enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the + 20 temp on the grounds that had a lawn, patio chairs and a relaxed atmosphere. There was a girl that worked at the auberge who was visiting with us and asked how our feet were doing. She offered to look and assist Pat with her blisters.
