After a long boring trip along this road I am finally into the town of Merano. I had set the satnav to avoid motorways and take me the more scenic route to my destination. However after fighting through the town traffic of Merano I soon changed those settings and right away headed for the motorway.

I was now heading South on the SS38 towards Bolzano where I would then take the SS12 motorway North.

... scenery, paid the €24 and went to the top car park, the little Peugeot nearly blew a valve. Walked around up top, but being on slippery ice next to steep slopes is not my idea of fun, we looked around and went into the lovely town of Misurina and had lunch. Back to our Hotel to plan the next part of the journey. Been pretty lucky with the weather and roads as we don't have snow chains at all. Another great day on our ...

most of its route). The motorway was busy and even the local road was busy, Not
pleasant driving. This is a main north-south arterial route.

Stopped at Camping Corones. Luxurious site, with heated
sanitary facilities and a heated outdoor pool, but somehow we did not like it.
Full of Germans and very “ordered” parking.

... on the way back and trudged back to
camp. Quite a long day’s walk, especially as the way down from the top station
was very steep going. Carrying the shopping home didn’t help.

Decided to treat ourselves to a restaurant meal this
evening as we are feeling tired. Has a lovely meal – mixed Alpine platter (meat
and cheese) as a shared starter, followed by deer cutlets + pear + blueberry
