The hotel is in a great location, near the Shinjuku Station and many shopping centers. The shuttle bus to Narita was very convenient. The room small but clean and very comfortable. I would definitely return on my next visit to Tokyo.

The Sunroute Plaza Shinjiku was perfect for my stay. It had all the luxury's expected in a city central hotel but at a cheap price. It was only $136 a night and featured things such as flat screen tv's and bathtubs. I was very happy with how comfortable the bed was and i would happily recommend it to others!

          Return to Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku

We stayed at the Sunroute Plaza last year. That time we booked through a hotel booking engine and ended up in a room (and a whole floor) that stank of smoke despite requesting a non-smoking room.

This time we booked direct and moved up from an economy double to a non-smoking queen bedded room and that's exactly what we got.

Last room on the 14th floor (1401) we had a partial view out of the hotel across part of Shinjuku (office block straight across, view was behind us).

The room was spotless and very clearly non-smoking as was the floor by the lack of any smoke smell in the hallway. Odd configuration of the room so that you couldn't sit in bed and watch TV unless you twisted around. No cupboard of any kind, just some hangers on the wall in the hallway. So don't plan on staying here for a long time if you don't like living out of a suitcase.

As with every hotel bed we've ever slept on in Japan it was hard, but softer than most. Awful hard pillows as usual though.

Breakfast was again good and staff friendly in the restaurant and reception.

Expensive compared to the economy double we booked last year but infinitely better due to bigger bed and lack of horrid stale smoke smell.

We will most likely stay at Sunroute Plaza when we next travel to Japan.

We arrived safely in Tokyo yesterday afternoon and had a layover just shy of 24 hours, enough time to take the train into the city and explore a bit. First impressions - people EVERYWHERE. I knew Tokyo was busy, but I don't think I was quite prepared for the mass chaos that filled the streets. There didn't seem to be a pattern to it; pedestrians …

Monday morning we headed off to the Harajuku Station and then walked to the Meiji Shinto Shrine. Just steps away from busy streets is a beautiful forest and wide pathway leading under the Toriis to the shrine. We saw many parents with their young children dressed in kimonos to celebrate the Shichigosan, for children of the lucky ages seven, five …
