I arrive in Sri Lanka and make my way to Negombo for the night. Supposedly a lovely seafront town, I never get a chance to actually visit the waterfront. My plane arrives late in the evening and as soon as I arrive I shower and head to bed.

I'm up early to make the three hour journey into Colombo to retrieve a friends left items. While the hostel was aware I was coming they didn't make sure the items ...

... this train journey was so easy (and I am sure even easier of you get on the right train) and for all the people we asked about getting there somehow they all failed to mention the absolutely gorgeous view the train had. First let's start with two minor victories., who had been told by the horrendous place we walked out of at midnight that we were a 'no show' and therefore liable to a $20 fine, took our side of the story and charged us nothing. Secondly, we eventually heard from the safari people who, after making it clear they didn't have to refund us anything, promised to put the odd sum of $24 back into Liza's CC account within seven days. They still made up a load of **** ...

    Goodnight Sri Lanka

... things that though exciting at first became something of a nuisance. The public transport is cheap, but slow and cramped. The first time we rode to Kandy in the doorway of trains for 5hrs was an unexpected joy. The return journey was a tiresome affair that warns against retreading old ground. Keep moving forwards in all things, repetition is tedious.
That final journey saw us reserve tickets on a train that had no empty seats, switch onto a commuter train which ...
