... luck here but to no avail I too leave here with nothing to show for my efforts. I've never been shown so many pairs of mens underwear in a quest for a pair of shorts. I think something got a little lost in translation.

It's nearing the end of the day and wanting to get back to Combo at a somewhat reasonable time I get on the train and start my journey back. I nearly arrive back in town and my phone ...

... had to have a flight out of the country booked before we were allowed in! For aging vagrants like us this placed un-necessary planning and organisational restrictions on us. We had therefore purchased flights out of the country for February 11th. This date was arbitrary but nonetheless it immediately forced us into planning our time more carefully.

Bacterial infection apparently, probably looks worse than it is. I don't feel very fanciable and it's affecting my mood no end. ... commit to their service they are every bit as gracious and friendly as every other Sri Lankan giving advice and helping you find hotels that don't exist. The tuk tuk ride, like Sri Lanka itself, is exhilarating. The colours whizz by, streets so full of life, the buzz of the motor, the honking horns as you weave in between buses and lorries carrying elephants with the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair.

    That is Sri Lanka.

    Goodbye, I feel I hardly knew ...

Negombo is much closer to the airport and since we already spent a night in Colombo, we thought we'd give this city a try. There is a beach in Negombo but it is dirty and also a fort but you can't go inside as it is now turned into a prison. As our guidebook suggested, we could have committed a crime to see what it is like inside, but really, we'll pass.

So we just wonder around and hide for the several showers ...
