      A day a Lake Lucerne

We left the riverboat docked at Basel and took an hour ride to Lucerne. This is such a charming compact city. We went to see the Lion Monument and the Glacier Garden, then walked down to the Schwanan Plaza. There you see to the left the Cathedral of St.Leodegar, which is sits in a small hill above the lakefront. This was originally built in 735 but a fire nearly destroyed it, and a new structure was erected in 1633. To the right you see the Chapel ...

From our hotel we stopped at the Lion Monument, erected in memory of the 800Swiss Guards who defended Louis XVI and his wife at the ...

When in Switzerland, if you wish to drive on the Autobahn you need to purchase a Vignette for about 40 Euro's (valid for 12 months there are no other options) or you could take a chance and drive on them without a Vignette but you run the risk of being caught, 200 Swiss Franc fine and have to buy it anyway. All non Autobahn roads are free.

... to the market workers who would then say back shakalaka boom boom, no idea why they did this but it was a lot of fun. The rest of the day was pretty much all spent driving with a few service stops along the way with a little shopping and lunch at one of the biggest services we have been to yet. We stocked up on some Italian goodies before ...
