    ... it quite achievable. We then carried on, but having been told by the woman at our last hotel that restaurants etc would not be open on a Monday, we stopped at a grocery store at 1215, and ate our lunch in the parking lot.     This was the big climb of the day, about 10 km at around an 8% average. Much of this climb was cut into the side of a valley with a number of switchbacks so the views were impressive including the always popular snowy peaks. Not so popular were the swarms of flies following us up.

    ... and becomes only marginally easier towards the top, and all the while you have plenty of time look at the mountainous walls surrounding you and wonder just where in the heck the col could be. Of course it eventually appeared (after the road swung way over to what seemed like the other side of the valley), and for the first time this trip there were no others at the top when I arrived.

    ... because there are a lot of almond trees in this area) and they brought me fish with mussels. Then when I came to eat the fish I found it to be uncooked in the middle but when I complained they looked at me with astonishment, didn't apologise and failed to offer to do something about the food. This disappointment was made up for by a lovely meal I had with a couple from Maidstone. He did the cooking and it put the site restaurant to shame and it was also very nice ...

    ... all sorted so we could shower. Very important! !
    In cafe now trying 2.50 pint for research purposes.
    The frontier with Spain is just at edge of Andorra la vella and its a long way to Spanish coast up and down many mountains. You would want good brakes and not be scared of sheer drops at edge of road.
    It must be beautiful during skiing season but I would recommend it in Summer too they have a lot of building crammed into gaps between the hills. ...
