Day 50.. Floating on a raft made of water bottles

... here. We couldn't find either but we bought wraps and cough lollies instead. We then road another 3 kilometres to the next small town which had a supermarket and found... Fire lighters.. Woo hooo! Success!


We then returned to camp and with the help of our neighbours, lit the small BBQ and cooked up a delicious breakfast of scrambled spinach eggs with mushrooms in a wrap. Our neighbours are from Croatia and i think they felt a little sorry for us ...

... or Czech. Prices are very similar to back home actually for a lot of things. A little cheaper, like one or two dollars. But for other things like tuna and this tomato and eggplant dip, it's so cheap!

So anyway we had a little expedition to the supermarket and decided that we wouldn't buy anything to eat until we reached Karlovac. Little did we know, or should I say remember, that Sunday trading hours are cut short. We so should have known...

So away we continued ...

... that the forest in which we were camping was being logged! The sound of chainsaws at 6.30am is a little startling when one is camped in a forest, believe me. I don't think I have ever packed up so quickly! Paul was pretty relaxed during this whole affair. They won't log near us. As soon as they see the tent they will stop, he kept saying. But I can see them! And they are coming closer! So he then got up. They were only a couple of guys with chainsaws, not like a commercial ...

... directions on different days.  This was not entirely intentional as we got lost the first time, but it ended up for the best.  Our first hike was up a snowy forest road.  We encountered some deer hunters and little else until we reached a charming rustic restaurant full of weekend hikers.  We ate goulash and accepted a couple of welcome shots of homemade brandy.
