The hotel has recently had some rooms refurbished and we were upgraded into one of these rooms free of charge. The room itself is nicely decorated with an eco-friendly theme in mind. It uses refurbished piping as decor as well as recycled wood for the furniture. It has a big flat screen tv, a fridge, microwave and safe in the room and the bathroom has nice fixtures and fittings. The hotel offers a standard quality free breakfast and has a very small basic gym and pool. The location is close to downtown LA but is clearly in an underdeveloped area- the local firefighters even warned us about walking around at night (which we never did).

The first thing you need to know about today was that it was a lazy day.
We arrived at the Hotel at around midnight after getting a metro from Union Station to downtown LA. This was surprisingly easy and the metro system itself is very similar to the tube in London but I'd imagine it is a lot simpler for tourists here. It's a one-off flat …
Today was to be an exciting day. Today was the day we visit Six Flags Magic Mountain! This is something I have been looking forward to for a long time, and finally the day was here! We started by getting some breakfast from the hotel again before heading towards the metro station to begin our journey. To get to Magic Mountain …

I was stunned to find out that the Batmobiles are all fully serviceable cars; in fact all, but one are licensed, so can be driven on the streets! The tour was very interactive and allowed us to sit on the old Central Perk cafe set from ...
... be a very rewarding experience for both of us.
Our adventure begins with 26 hours of travel through Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur & Kuching, Malaysia. 3 flights totaling 20 hours in the air, and 6 hours of layovers. The first 2 flights are with Cathay Pacific, business class -- which always softens the blow for the long 15 hour flight to Hong Kong.

... be like in Christchurch before the earthquakes. We walked around for about an hour before deciding to go to the movies to kill another couple of hours. We saw a good movie called Rosewater, a true story about a journalist wrongly imprisoned in Iran in 2009, but after a worldwide outcry he was realised. After the movie we headed back to the airport to give ourselves plenty of time to get there, as it turned out we got there in heaps of time so we have hunkered down waiting for boarding ...
