Great day again today. Took the cog train up to the Jesus statue. Great views of Rio. Then went to copacabanna for lunch to watch the Greece / Columbia game. Great atmosphere. Lots of chants from the Colombians. After a rest went downtown rio to watch another game. Today's pictures may be on yesterday.
Today went to go see Jesus but it was cloudy so we walked a good ways to Sugarloaf mountain. Great views of the city. Then walked another good ways to lunch. Food has been ok. nothing spectacular yet. Going out tonight so hopefully it will be good. And it was good! Ate at Porcao! Tim's work friends treated us to dinner and then gave us gifts. Awesome people and great dinner.
Arrived At Rio around 10 AM yesterday. While at the airport we got our tickets for our games. Then checked into the hotel and thenm went down to copacabanna to fan fest to watch the Brazil game.
... right. stage fright led to a great statement when asked why we came to visit the graffiti...'because it's pretty'. the camera man thoughtit was rubbish and asked us to expand...so Kate gave some amazing on the spot reason about the local people and expressing their heritage-thank you Kate for doing an arts degree! definitely paying off. what better way to spend the arvo than chilling on a roof top overlooking Rio with some beer ...
... in Rio and to be honest I thought it wouldn't be too dissimilar to the Redeemer, minus the huge statue. This time we took the Metro as the distance between the station and attraction didn't look too far on the map- but looks can be deceiving! After walking for about 45 minutes in the boiling sunshine, stopping off at various gas stations along the way for a quick hit of air conditioning, we finally made it.
