This town about an hour and a quarter from Florence was nice. Usual cathedral etc to see. Weather not so good the day we went.

We met our tour bus just before 8.30am at Santa Maria Novella train station. Our tour guide was a lovely Hungarian girl called Olivia. She spoke excellent English, as she studied languages at university. Our first stop of the day was the UNESCO World Heritage listed city of Siena. During the drive, Olivia told us a little about Siena, but we were …

Day 2: After breakfast (included) venture around Tuscany. In Sienna walk along the medieval streets, looking at the palaces and the Piazza del Compo, one of the most beautiful town squares in the world. The famous 600 year old horse race, the 'Il Palio' is held here. Set off to the Chiant Hills where beautiful forests, vineyards and pretty medieval …

About an hour and a half to Siena seeing a nicer mountainous country part of Florence. This is what I have been waiting for. Unfortunately it was pouring rain when we got there and didn't let up the …

... stop was the amphitheater a truly spectacular sight where they still perform opera and ballet. They really built things to last here!!! Final stop in Verona was the Giardino Giusti gardens which were created at the end of the 15th century and from the top offer a beautiful panorama of Verona. All in all I think Verona has been the place I have enjoyed the most in Italy. Off to Switzerland ...

... to the castel San pietro. The views were stunning the sun was beating down and I even had to take off my coat. Then we headed for the bell tower the torre dei lamberti to climb the 366 steps to the top. Although I didn't make it quite to the very top Nick had to leave me where the bells were because you could see through the final steps to the ground below and it freaked me out!! Not a great lover of heights. Off to the bar now for a well earned ...
