      Flight AK156 KL to Guilin

A travel blog entry by mlauri on Oct 04, 2014

Our flight left on time, 6:25am and still dark outside. Flight time is 3 hrs 45minutes. I ate pancakes with syrup for breakfast. Did not really feel like a Malaysian breakfast that usually includes rice and curry. Even though this flight is shorter than the last I am still getting a sore butt. We have flown over Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos however the views out of the window were partially obscured by cloud ...

... already exhausted and this tablet (with drowsiness as a side effect) nearly knocked me out; I couldn't keep my eyes open for the next 4 hours. This wasn't ideal as we had a very tight turn around from the ferry, to airport transfer, to flight to Koh Samui that left at 10am. Somehow, we managed to make the flight without a single hiccup. We also agreed that Koh Samui airport was the nicest airport ...

Bianchi waited until a later corner to hit Maldonado. We saw a couple of overtakes at our corner, particularly, towards the end of the race. Thankfully the predicted thunderstorm didn't eventuate. According to the drivers' radio messages there was a bit of rain in the air but it didn't make the track wet.

Today we bid a fond farewell to KL. As we take the train out of the city and to the airport we look upon the skyline for the last time. As the train leaves the heart of this city we start to see small houses with tin roofs. They must be incredibly noisy in the rainy season, and extremely hot all the time. Soon we leave the furthest reaches of the city behind and we are passing through agricultural land with small ...

... in tin/corrugated iron houses and appeared to live hand to mouth. That afternoon was one of my best experiences whilst traveling- I really enjoyed being around the kids and they were all so hard working, focused on what they were trying to achieve and just great fun. The organization I went along to is called Chow Kit Kita and 17 ( I think!) teenagers selected from over 70 applicants work together to produce a show in the local community. In previous years they've ...
