... have 19 spires in total. The 12 spires over the entrances for the 12 apostles, one huge spire in the centre for Jesus surrounded by six smaller spires for the Virgin mother, Joseph and.....some other people. The sculpture at the entrances was just amazing. All biblical scenes of course, but a mix of classical and modern styles that blended amazingly well. I wanted to go in and see the interior of this monstrosity, hoping it would be just as overwhelming as the exterior, but ...

My little apartment is absolutely adorable. Most of the streets in barri gothic are pedestrian only, much too narrow for a single car to go through. I was a little worried when I first started down the alleyway but the I saw the huge door for the building. I wonder how old it is. I am now the proud carrier of an actual skeleton key to open that bad boy. Maria is the property manager. Lovely ...

... Zaragoza the train speeded up heading into Barcelona. We were hitting up to 248km at times. Got into Barcelona only 5 minutes later than schedule. Not bad after 12 hours travel. Picked up a cab to take us to the apartment in El Born nod if of the old parts of the city near the beach. Only problem was that our apartment is in a pedestrian only are and the police had closed off the vehicular traffic all around the area. ...

Waking late on Palm Sunday (finally over our jet lag), we discovered that Barcelona can be quiet. Well, all was quiet except for the band that was warming up on the street behind us - which appeared to be setting up for some sort of fun run or parade. Have we mentioned that any gathering in Barcelona is always very loud - lots of loud music and they love their sound cannons. So taking advantage of the slow start and getting out of the area, we headed ...

We set our alarms as we want an early start today and we are off by 9.00am and arrive after our short taxi ride to Las Ramblas. Las Ramblas is a pedestrian strip right in the middle of Barcelona. There is lots of streets merchants and as everything does not open till 10.00 it is a little quite.
We decide to check out the local market La boqueria.this is huge and fantastic and has everything all in one place. The was displays of fresh fruit ...
