      Barcelona - Day 1 & 2

... There was no running or screaming so I guess it wasn't a gunshot. But there was no fireworks either. I hopped off at the train station just around the corner and went in to get my tickets. I visited the "hard park" behind the station which is a small lake with a concrete park around it. It was listed in the tourist bus guide book, but I wouldn't say it was a must see. The tourist bus had three routes and I wanted to get onto a different one than the red route I had arrived ...

When we stepped inside the church, I was amazed by the size, lightness and beauty of the building...in one word, it was awesome. The spectacular stained glass windows were made using Murano glass from Venice. Tall columns made from different materials ( ...

Waking late on Palm Sunday (finally over our jet lag), we discovered that Barcelona can be quiet. Well, all was quiet except for the band that was warming up on the street behind us - which appeared to be setting up for some sort of fun run or parade. Have we mentioned that any gathering in Barcelona is always very loud - lots of loud music and they love their sound cannons. So taking advantage of the slow start and getting out of the area, we headed ...

      ... the night.

Just a note! I’m writing this on Saturday, November 2, just before I leave for Malaga and the photo tour. I don’t know what the internet situation will be there plus I have a feeling that I will be spending any spare time trying to figure out the DSLR (yikes!), so you may not hear from me for a while. I’ll catch up after November 10th when I start the transatlantic cruise—there should be more than enough time ...
