As we took photographs of her and her small home/store she joked in her local Javanese, "You pretty, me ugly". Waking with a bout of food poisoning is never fun but having to travel five hours on a train and a further two by car is the worst start to a day ever. The plan was to try to sleep it off. There isn't a great deal to see in Surabaya from a tourist's perspective, though we did visit a monument of a crocodile and shark entangled in each other outside a zoo, which is an important monument here according to Felix. We woke and had breakfast and discussed the aims for the day. Firstly we had to get into the centre of the city and sort out the tour to Mount Bromo, which was the real reason for coming to Surabaya, as well as buy tickets for our move on to Bali, and then we could maybe think about some sightseeing.
