As we took photographs of her and her small home/store she joked in her local Javanese, "You pretty, me ugly". We all tried her coffee, which was surprisingly tasty although it raised a few hairs on the chest and then we were off, leaving the woman to get back to her daily routine.

Waking with a bout of food poisoning is never fun but having to travel five hours on a train and a further two by car is the worst start to a day ever. The plan was to try to sleep it off. There isn't a great deal to see in Surabaya from a tourist's perspective, though we did visit a monument of a crocodile and shark entangled in each other outside a zoo, which is an important monument here according to Felix.
